Term 1 - Week 2Tuesday 5th February 2013
Whole School Agreements Revised - the teaching of Spelling. In 2012 we made some whole school agreements about how we teach spelling. The video file is a quick demo on how we teach this. The powerpoint template shows how we set up the slides for consistency and the notebook file is another way that teachers may choose to use technology to teach it. (Please note that if you make slides on powerpoint it is easy to import these into "Notebook". Simply: File/Import/ and the file will load in notebook - sometimes the file may skew slightly and some readjustments need to happen to fonts or to pictures however generally it converts fine.) At staff meeting we will go through our terms of reference for spelling (naming and defining phonics focus words, why we use phonics focus words, the other elements of spelling used at FSPS, what a graph, phoneme, digraph, dipthong, trigraph, quadgraph, blend, morphograph and grapheme are. We will also discuss the termly slides that have been set up and dictate what needs to happen to these to make them useable. (Many thanks to our Miss Amy for tirelessly producing the powerpoints for us!!! We love you Miss Amy!!!) |

Term 1 - Week 3Tuesday 12th February 2013
Speech Pathologist - Sharon Healy visits to talk about the screening from 2012. Sharon will be doing screenings in 2013 of students from Year 3-7 with students identified by Mel Judd and the Leadership team. The Creed - we have decided to begin a process of tracking and solving student issues through a new system called the Issues Table. The Leadership Team will now be in the Gym from 10:50am to 11:25am and 1:20pm to 1:50pm to sort through any issues that occur in class or in the yard. The onus is on students to be reporting issues which they may do during their break times. Learning is for learning. The belief behind this is that students should be focused on their work and their application to tasks during learning time. We would like staff to use the FSPS Creed to instill values and rules in classes. |

Term 1 - Week 4Tuesday 19th February 2013
Rigorous curriculum or Rigorous mortis - timetables and routines are the most important thing in succeeding in pacing yourself through the curriculum. Please use the timetable below to let us know what you are doing in class (broken down to 5 minute intervals) then email Bek and Mitch for discussions at team meetings. Please also post these on your own weebly. [email protected] [email protected] Celebration of success!! We thought it was pertinent to share our fantastic growth with you after last year's analysis. Blue shows the percentage of our students who were at level at the beginning of the year and green shows the percentage of students who were at level at the end of the year. These are results worth celebrating. These are the results that you need to be quoting in any job applications!! Not that you'll be going anywhere yet we hope!! |
